Implementation of Subsidised Tertiary Education funding model – 2026 Academic year
Welwitchia University has received official communication from the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEYSAC) regarding the new Subsidised Tertiary Education Funding Model, approved by Cabinet and extended to private institutions for fairness and inclusivity. This model takes effect for the 2026 Academic Year starting January 2026, with students required to apply directly to NSFAF for the subsidy.
Definition of Eligible Student under the Subsidised Tertiary Education Funding Model: This is a student who qualifies on the NSFAF eligibility funding criteria for 2026.
Updated Fee Payment Guidelines
The following are the conditions applicable to this memo, categorized by student type:
- New Eligible Students: No tuition and registration fee required.
- Continuing Students Who Have Existing Loans with NSFAF: No tuition and registration fee required, however students are required to settle any outstanding student debt that is not covered by the subsidised tertiary education funding model.
- Continuing eligible students without NSFAF Loan: No tuition and registration fee required, however students are required to settle any outstanding student debt that is not covered by the subsidised tertiary education funding model.
- New/Continuing Students who are Not Eligible: N$5,000 deposit required at registration.
- Non-tuition fees: Students should apply to NSFAF directly.
