Certificate Award Ceremony Event
On the 6th of June, the Thuringerhof Hotel in Windhoek was a hub of celebration and recognition as it hosted the prestigious public certificate award ceremony. This event marked significant milestones in the Namibian education sector, including the registration of private higher education institutions, accreditation of academic programs, and the quality audit of institutional policies, systems, and processes.The ceremony began with the warm and enthusiastic introduction by the directors of ceremonies, Ms. Bertha Njembo and the NCHE Secretariat. Their professionalism and charisma set the tone for a day filled with acknowledgment and appreciation of educational advancements.
Dr. Sylvia Demas delivered the welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of quality education and the role of accreditation in ensuring that educational institutions maintain high standards. Her speech was a call to action for all present to continue striving for excellence in education.
The keynote address was delivered by Hon. Nathalia /Goagoses, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation. She highlighted the government's commitment to supporting higher education and the critical role that accredited institutions play in the nation's development. Her address was both inspiring and motivating, resonating deeply with all attendees.
The awarding of certificates and reports commenced with the presentation of amended certificates for institutional registration. Dr. Alfred van Kent, Executive Director of MHETI and Registrar of Private Higher Education and Institutions, took the stage to present these significant documents. His presence underscored the importance of the government's role in overseeing and supporting private higher education.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the brief remarks by the Head/Representative of Welwitchia University. Their pride and excitement were palpable as they celebrated their achievement as a newly recognized university. This moment was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the institution's staff and leadership.
Hon. Nathalia /Goagoses, along with the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation, continued with the awarding of reports for institutional audits. Each institution's head or representative took to the podium to share brief remarks. The representatives from Namibia Evangelical Theological Seminary, Philippi Trust Namibia, International Training College, Lingua, and African Leadership Institute spoke with pride about their accomplishments and their commitment to maintaining high standards.
The ceremony proceeded with the awarding of certificates for program accreditation by Dr. Francine Keendjele, the NCHE Deputy Chairperson. Each awardee was acknowledged for their adherence to rigorous standards and their contribution to the educational landscape of Namibia.
