WU Partners with SOS Children’s Villages Namibia for Social Work Student Training
Welwitchia University (WU) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with SOS Children’s Villages Namibia to enhance practical training for Bachelor of Social Work students. This partnership will provide hands-on experience, bridging academic learning with real-world practice in social work.

Under the agreement:
  • WU students will receive supervised training at SOS Children’s Villages Namibia, gaining firsthand experience in working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Practical placements will align with academic coursework, ensuring students develop critical skills in client care, case management, and ethical social work practice.
  • Three admission spots will be reserved annually for eligible youth nominated by SOS Children’s Villages Namibia, providing opportunities for disadvantaged individuals to pursue higher education in social work.
Prof. Marius Hedimbi, Acting Vice-Chancellor of WU, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in equipping students with the necessary skills to serve communities effectively. "This partnership strengthens our commitment to developing competent and compassionate social workers who can make a meaningful impact in society."

The agreement ensures structured supervision, competency-based assessments, and student well-being measures. Fieldwork supervisors will guide students throughout their placements, offering mentorship and evaluations to ensure they meet industry standards.

This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing social work education in Namibia, preparing students to address social challenges and contribute positively to their communities.
