WELWITCHIA UNIVERSITY HOSTS “DON’T TOUCH ME, I WILL REPORT YOU” COMMUNITY ACTIVATION
Welwitchia University proudly joined the nationwide “Don’t Touch Me, I Will Report You” campaign, in collaboration with One Economy Foundation, hosting a vibrant community activation at its City Campus in Windhoek. The initiative, led by the One Economy Foundation’s BreakFree Pillar in partnership with the Unbroken Voice Movement, aims to empower university students to speak up against gender‑based violence (GBV) and femicide.
The activation brought together students, law enforcement, social workers, and advocates in a dynamic programme that combined education, creative expression, and interactive engagement.
The campaign builds on research showing that arts‑based and participatory methods are effective in shifting harmful attitudes and reducing stigma around disclosure. Through initiatives such as the Messaging Box Corner, students were provided with safe, anonymous avenues to share concerns and access referral pathways.
Welwitchia University extends its gratitude to the One Economy Foundation, NAMPOL, student leaders from various Institutions of Higher Education, and all partners who contributed to the success of this activation. The University remains committed to mobilising students as advocates for safety, consent, and accountability, ensuring that silence no longer protects perpetrators.
“Silence protects perpetrators. Speak up. Report. Demand justice.”
